It's all happening...

Verlen was placed on his rock Wednesday afternoon at 5:00; wrapped for the unveiling on Saturday, those that took part took pause. It is an amazing thing to be apart of something so grand with the support of so many people.

Some finishing touches

Some fine tuning on the pavilion; bringing the gable ends down 2ft. Jack Murgittroyd brought his rig down and supplied the tools and his expertise in bringing the gable ends down and putting a ceiling in the pavilion.

Brad Busch is now in the prosess of putting the stuco on the ends.

Can somebody say "dEdIcAtIoN pArTy!"

I know the words to "I've been working on the Railroad" but it looks like we have new lyrics in the making.

"Drill baby drill; Grind man grind! Verlen up Verlen down. Verlen traveling all around." I think Mike Smith missed his calling!

Word is, Verlen is rock ready or ready to rock... I say he is rock steady!! Now for the drum solo / roll!! 17 days and counting!!

Bush Whackers take it to Lake Michigan

The only real cure for Bush Whacker withdrawal, is a another paddling trip! Team Bush Whacker takes a coastal cruise up the big pond.

Most of the participants that did the 150 have reunited for the Mich-whacker cruise! The question is; are they towing the cruiser/cooler "The Betty Ford". It ain't a real cruise with out "BF"!

Sod Busters!!

Whew!! The motto of the day "Was green side up"... Now who on earth was... You know, the grass is greener on the other side.

Sod Busters Gett'r Done!!

A big thank you and a dip of the paddle to our committee members that worked the ground and laid the sod. You all get the Verlen Kruger prestigious "Sod Buster Award" - Dirty finger nails!!

A special thank you goes to Dan Keilen owner of Hi-Lo Acres sod farm who donated the sod for this project. We have put in 270 yards so far and are getting 50 more to finish the site.
.
Things are going well and the sod should be well seated for the dedication; 25 days to go!!

Bush Whacker Awards!

The Celebrations begin and continues on into the night with stories of intrigue and adventure!

The Challengers agree, there is a sense of being ,working your way up river; feeling the current beneath you challenging your every stroke. You feel apart of something.

.

The minutes turn to hours and the hours to days. You start to realize your dream of finishing and then there is a portage and another river to be had. The process then starts all over again.
.
But now you don't want the event to end, you are in sync with all around you. You are more efficient, your stroke improved you are having the adventure of a life time... That something has now been realized; You are one of the few that have been completely and utterly Bush Whacked.

Big thanks to all the volunteers and competitors for their participation. Now back away from the river slowly, time to go back to the world, till next time.

Getting ready for the sod

Another big thank you to Bruce and Dale Cook for getting the site ready for the sod. It took 24 yards of top soil to make the grade look good. Can't say enought about the Cook Brothers.
